Description

1863 Indian Cent, PR65 Cameo
Well Produced for the Date

1863 1C PR65 Cameo PCGS. Snow-1. The attractive gold surfaces of this 1863 Gem Cameo proof display faint blue accents alongside a speckling of reddish-tan patina for excellent eye appeal. Boldly reflective fields and moderately contrasted devices reveal no important post-mint detractions, although we note a shallow planchet flake near the headband and a wavy lint mark above 3 in the date. The 1863 Indian Head cent in Proof Cameo is considerably scarcer than the 1862 proofs despite only a slightly smaller proof mintage of 460+ pieces. PCGS Population (both proof varieties): 14 in 65 (2 in 65+) Cameo, 17 finer (12/25).(Registry values: N4719)
