    Description

    1863 Cent, PR65 NGC

1863 1C PR65 NGC. The Mint's output of proof Indian Cents in 1863 totaled (approximately) 460 pieces, of which no more than 150 coins are believed extant (per Rick Snow, 1992). An obviously scarce issue, the 1863 is particularly elusive in grades above the PR64 level. Fully struck with warm, original, orange-tan color, the surfaces reveal shimmering reflectivity as the coin turns into the light. Neither side, however, exhibits a noteworthy blemish. Population: 30 in 65, with a mere six finer (7/02).

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229D, PCGS# 2262)

    Weight: 4.67 grams

    Metal: 88% Copper, 12% Nickel
