    Description

A Second 1864 Bronze Indian Cent, PR64 Red

1864 1C Bronze PR64 Red NGC. Among the most difficult of all small cent proofs, although its estimated mintage of just 150 pieces may be slightly on the low side. Choice and better specimens can, only infrequently, be found under the Red and Brown color designation, but pieces meeting the criteria for full Red quality are genuinely rare (despite the multiple offerings in this sale). This piece displays ample reflectivity and golden-tan color mixed with blushes of orange. There are a few stray carbon flecks in the fields, but its original mint vibrancy is still very much intact. Population: 7 in 64, 2 finer (5/01).

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229F, PCGS# 2278)

    Weight: 3.11 grams

Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc
