    Description

Colorful and Rare Gem 1864 Copper-Nickel Cent

1864 1C Copper-Nickel PR 66 NGC. This final-year copper-nickel delivery is scarcer than its already low mintage of 370 pieces might suggest. No more than 100 coins are believed extant, precious few of which are as pristine as the Gem that we are offering here. The surfaces display an interesting color scheme that swirls together honey-tan and steel-lilac hues. The devices are frosty and boldly struck, and both sides are all but hairline-free. Population: 10 in 66, 0 finer (11/00).
    From the Joshua Collection.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229E, PCGS# 2265)

    Weight: 4.67 grams

    Metal: 88% Copper, 12% Nickel
