    1866 Cent, PR66 Cameo
    One of the Three Finest

1866 1C PR66 Red Cameo PCGS. Typical of virtually all proofs of this issue, this piece shows a few as-struck small depressions on the Indian's cheek, possibly the result of a rusty obverse die (Snow, 2009). Original, reddish-orange color is seen over each side of this deeply reflective proof. The devices are nicely frosted and provide strong field-motif contrast on both obverse and reverse. One of three finest at PCGS; NGC has seen none at this level or finer (4/14).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2005), lot 5190.
