1866 1C PR 65 Red and Brown PCGS. This is a lovely example that displays adequately reflective fields and nicely frosted devices. The recessed areas show deep red-brown patina with blushes of intense lilac-blue highlights about the denticles. The devices, on the contrary, exhibit delicate champagne iridescence that contrasts superbly with the darker fields and preserves the cameo appearance of this gem. A lone hairline above Liberty's ear is the only distraction worthy of note on these otherwise placid surfaces. Indian Head collectors should not overlook the scarcity of this issue at the PR 66 grade level as they ponder their bids for this lot.
