1868 Cent, PR65 Red
Deep Mirrors, Noticeable Contrast
1868 1C PR65 Red PCGS. CAC. Beautiful copper-gold surfaces
exhibit lime-green and rose accents in the fields, which, thanks to
their deep mirrors, produce noticeable contrast against the motifs.
The reverse is inverted nearly 180 degrees, as often seen on proofs
from this year. A few tiny obverse flecks do not detract in the
least. Population: 9 in 65 Red, 1 finer in non-Cameo. CAC: 2 in 65,
0 finer (7/18).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2007), lot 229; FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2008), lot 384, where it brought $4,644.(Registry values: N4719)
