Description

1868 Cent, PR66 Red Cameo
Dramatic Color and Contrast

1868 1C PR66 Red Cameo PCGS. CAC. Snow-PR1. This is an extraordinarily well-preserved Cameo proof with uniform golden-red coloration and unmistakable contrast between the boldly reflective fields and the well-frosted devices. Often seen with 170° die rotation, this specimen is rotated about 15° counterclockwise in relation to the obverse. Considering an original production of approximately 600 coins, the likelihood of a full red survivor this nice -- and with designated Cameo contrast -- is remote indeed. CAC endorsement adds to this coin's impressive resume. Population: 6 in 66 (1 in 66+) Cameo, 0 finer. CAC: 2 in 66, 0 finer (9/24).
