While issues such as the 1870, 1871, and 1872 cents have higher reported mintages than their peers from the years immediately following the Civil War, paradoxically, the later coins are more elusive today. This Red Premium Gem, tied for numerically finest in the color category for its issue (11/08), is attractively detailed with fresh copper-orange surfaces.(Registry values: N4719)
