    Description

    Gem Proof 1870 Indian Cent

1870 PR 65 Red PCGS. Slightly more than 1,000 proofs of this date were produced and this specimen certainly ranks high among the survivors from that mintage. The moderately reflective surfaces show just a hint of pale violet patina on the frosty design highpoints of the obverse. Careful examination with a glass reveals some minuscule flecks but one must search diligently to find them. Population: 19 in 65, 2 finer (12/98).

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229N, PCGS# 2299)

    Weight: 3.11 grams

Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc
