    Description

Pleasing 1871 Proof Indian Cent at the Gem Red Level of Preservation

1871 1C PR65 Red PCGS. A conditionally scarce survivor from an original proof delivery of at least 960 pieces, this coin is fully brought up over all elements of the design. Both sides are lustrous with dominant golden-orange hues that give way to delicate lilac tinting around the reverse periphery. A little bit of faint carbon is seen over the lower obverse, but the number and size of the flecks is not out of context with the PR65 grade level. Originally and carefully preserved.
From the Joseph P. Gorrell Collection.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229P, PCGS# 2302)
