    Description

One of the Finest Certified Proof 1871 Indian Cents

1871 1C PR65 Red PCGS. An elusive grade for the 1871 Indian Cent, and the finest that a collector could realistically hope to obtain for the proof delivery of this date. The moderately reflective fields form a splendid backdrop to sharp, fully brought up devices. Both features of the surfaces are fully lustrous with orange-red color than yields to cherry-red hues in the center of the reverse. Perhaps kept from an even higher grade by a few trivial carbon flecks, yet possessed of solid technical merits and strong eye appeal. Population: 29 in 65 Red, only 1 finer (1/03).
    From the Colburn Collection.
