    Description

1871 PR 66 Red and Brown NGC. A scarcer proof issue made more desirable by the lack of quality business strikes. This exceptionally clean example is a uniform golden-bronze color. Evidently the graders at NGC saw the fire as having diminished just enough that they opted to forego the full Red designation. You may debate that, as the coin is gorgeous. PCGS and NGC have each graded one piece PR 66, none finer or full red. An offering for the connoisseur of the best available.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229P, PCGS# 2301)
