    Description

Important Gem Full Red 1872 Cent, Proof Format

1872 1C PR65 Red PCGS Cameo. A semi-key issue in business strike format, this proof 1872 is an important alternative for the Gem quality date collector. Effulgent orange-red luster blankets both sides and deepens in hue ever so slightly on the reverse. Every design element is essentially full in striking detail, and pleasing reflectivity is noted, particularly on the obverse. Despite roughly similar mintages, the proof 1872 is more difficult to locate in the finer grades than the specimen strikings of the 1870 and 1871 deliveries. Population: 10 in 65 Red, 6 finer (1/03).
    From the Colburn Collection.
