    Description

Gem Red Proof 1873 Indian Cent

1873 1C Closed 3 PR65 Red PCGS. The date has the Closed 3 logotype as do all Proof Indian cents of this year. In fact, nearly every proof coin, regardless of denomination, has the Closed 3 date style. There are but a few exceptions to this rule, and those are invariably rare. This is because most Proof coins were produced early in the year, usually in January and February, prior to the introduction of the new Open 3 date punch. This lovely and brilliant Gem has light pinkish orange surfaces, mirrored fields, slight cameo contrast, and excellent eye appeal.(#2308) (Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229S, PCGS# 2308)

    Weight: 3.11 grams

Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc
