Description
Elusive Red Gem Proof 1875 Cent
1875 1C PR65 Red PCGS. While the 1875 is normally found with only moderate reflectivity, this is a strongly mirrored example. Pumpkin-gold is prevalent except over portions of the reverse, which display occasional swaths of dusky cherry-red and apple-green. An exceptionally pleasing example of this scarce early proof issue. Population: 11 in 65 Red, 2 finer (11/09).Ex: Pittsburgh Signature (Heritage, 8/2004), lot 5232, which realized $6,325.
