Outstanding Near-Gem Proof 1877 Indian Cent

1877 1C PR64 Red PCGS. Because of the preeminence of the 1877 business strike, as the key issue of the Indian cent series, proofs of this date are also very popular with specialists. The currently offered coin is an attractive near-Gem with original orange-red color. The fields are modestly reflective, with hazy russet mottling throughout. A few stray carbon flecks, and a small handling mark directly below the O in OF, in the upper right obverse field, are seemingly all that separate this piece from a full Gem grade. Population: 52 in 64, 32 finer (4/03).

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229W, PCGS# 2320)

    Weight: 3.11 grams
