1877 Cent, PR65 Red and Brown
1877 1C PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. The exact number of proof
cents from 1877 is not possible to state as Mint records are
incomplete from that year. The highest number that is possible is
910 pieces, but 140 pieces are unaccounted for (perhaps melted?).
The date pressure is considerable for proofs because of the rarity
of high-grade business strikes. This moderately reflective proof
displays lime-green interspersed with reddish-brown in the centers
and deeper color around the margins.
