Important and Appealing Premium Gem Proof 1877 Indian Cent

1877 1C PR66 Red PCGS. Because the business strike 1877 is the undisputed key to the Indian cent series, the proof version from that year represents a tempting alternative for high grade date collectors. The present lot offers a well preserved and sharp looking Gem whose surfaces are devoid of noteworthy handling marks. The color is a little more vibrant on the reverse, with a mini-rainbow of iridescent color variations, but the obverse is also attractive with a warm red-green tint. There are a few small carbon flecks on the obverse. The fields are well mirrored and the design elements show pinpoint definition throughout. This is an important and highly desirable specimen, of the highest quality both technically and visually. Population: 11 in 66, 2 finer (4/03).
