    Description

Exquisite Proof 66 Red 1879 Cent

1879 1C PR66 Red PCGS. With a respectable original mintage of 3,200 pieces, the 1879 is probably the most common proof Cent from the 1870s. A strong candidate for inclusion in a high grade type set, this premium quality Gem is awash in full mint luster. The otherwise cherry-red color yields to golden hues in select areas around the peripheries. All features are essentially full in striking detail and devoid of bothersome contact marks. There are a few isolated blushes of faint haziness, most notably inside 1 o'clock on the obverse rim.
    From the Colburn Collection.
