    Description

Proof 1882 Indian Cent With Uncommonly Well Preserved Surfaces

1882 1C PR66 Red PCGS. As a high mintage (3,100 pieces) proof Cent from the 1880s, the conditionally rare status of the 1882 might not be well known to some collectors. Ron Sirna (2002) notes that examples are elusive at all levels of Red preservation, and PR66 Red representatives are so rare as to have only made six appearances in our auctions from 1994 to date. This is the most desirable proof 1882 Cent that this cataloger has ever handled. Full reddish-orange luster bathes appreciably reflective features. The sharp strike is free of criticism, as are the carefully preserved, virtually blemish-free surfaces. Population: 10 in 66 Red, there are just four finer (1/03).
    From the Colburn Collection.

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
