Description
Finest Known Cameo 1883 Cent, PR66
1883 1C PR66 Red Cameo PCGS. Curiously, the 1883 has a relatively high mintage of 6,609 proofs, but it is very difficult to locate in Gem condition and with intact red color. Cameo coins are even rarer, and this is the only coin so graded by either of the major services (9/04). The fields are deeply reflective with a shimmering, watery appearance and there is a slight "orange peel" effect above the date. Exceptionally well preserved with no mentionable contact marks or spots, the surfaces display a bright commingling of orange and red coloration. An important coin that the serious student of proof Indian cents will not overlook.(#82338) (Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22A4, PCGS# 82338, GSID# 1586)
