    Description

    Exquisite 1884 Cent, PR67 Red

1884 1C PR67 Red NGC. Proof Indian cents from the 1880s have higher mintages and show up with greater frequency than dates before or after them. But even if every single proof specimen (3,942 pieces) produced in 1884 survived today, the odds of locating another one as nice as this piece would be extremely low. Both sides exhibit peerless, glassy surfaces with amazing, unmellowed golden-orange color. The design elements are crisply impressed. Census: 4 in 67 Red, 0 finer (6/09).(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22A5, PCGS# 2341)

    Weight: 3.11 grams

Metal: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc

With the superb catalog, a masterwork prepared by Mark Borckhardt, the sale was destined to meet all of my expectations; that it did, and then some. Be assured that I would highly recommend Heritage Auctions to any of my associates contemplating the sale
