1894 Indian Cent, PR66 Red Cameo
Appreciable Contrast, Rich Color
1894 1C PR66 Red Cameo PCGS. CAC. Snow-PR3. This is a
distinctive year among the later date Indian cents, recognized for
a business strike mintage that is substantially lower than adjacent
years. Proofs are not unusually elusive in the context of the proof
series, although high-end Red and Cameo examples are scarce. The
Premium Gem proof has fully brilliant orange color, tending toward
yellowish-green on the reverse. The fields are nicely mirrored and
frame the lustrous and sharply defined devices. PCGS reports only
one numerically finer piece in Red Cameo (9/25).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2004), lot 5360.(Registry values: P1)
