1896 1C PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. A high-end proof regardless of the color designation, but since we are on the subject, this Premium Gem proof 1896 cent displays mostly copper-red color with only some faint auburn-tinged hues in the obverse fields that make up the Brown half of the grade. The strike is sharp and the fields are reflective. We observe no mentionable specks. Population: 14 in 66 Red and Brown, 0 finer.
