High-End Gem Proof 1908 Indian Half Eagle

1908 PR 65 PCGS. First year of the Pratt incuse design and as such always a popular coin with collectors. The coin shows the distinctive dark matte finish characteristic of all proof gold from this year, and there is also a bit of khaki color which is characteristic as well. A strong, high-end example, there are just the slightest shiny streaks above the E in E PLURIBUS UNUM, above IN in the motto, and a slight sheen at the top of plumes of the feathers in the headdress. These are insignificant flaws, however, and at first glance the coin appears perfect. A magnificent example of Bela Pratt's sunken relief design, and rarely seen in proof format. Population: 12 in 65, 7 finer (5/95).
