    Description

Gem Roman Gold Proof 1910 Half Eagle

1910 $5 PR65 PCGS. The total production of this issue has been recently placed at 299 coins, higher than the mintage of 250 coins that was officially recorded by the Philadelphia Mint. Of course, given the true rarity of these proof gold coins, especially in Gem condition, it almost doesn't matter what the actual mintage was in 1910. What matters is the number that have survived over the years, and that is a very small number.
The satiny surfaces have lovely medium yellow color with greenish tones on the reverse. It is not as reflective as the larger denominations of this year, yet the surfaces are similar in overall appearance, with the Roman gold finish. Every individual design details is extraordinarily well defined. Population: 7 in 65, 1 finer (1/06).(Registry values: N7079)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28E4, PCGS# 8541)

    Weight: 8.36 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
