    Description

1914 Half Eagle $5 PR65 PCGS. It was recorded that 125 proof Half Eagles were struck by the Mint in 1914. Even though the literature for the series states far fewer are known today, we believe that somewhere between 40 and 50 pieces are extant in both private collections and public museums. This is a solid Gem proof that has sparkling, granular surfaces and even coloration. There are no shiny spots, and the only flaws we see are a small contact mark between stars 8 and 9 on the obverse and a tiny milling mark above the second T in TRUST. Very scarce. Population: 6 in 65, 1 finer (11/01). This is a fabulous, original 1914 proof set, including gold, being sold as lots 6610 to 6618. (NGC ID# 28E8, PCGS# 8545)

    Weight: 8.36 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
