Description

PCGS 1908 PR 65. Proofs of this year are always a popular item with collectors. Not only is it the first year of issue for the incuse Indian design, and a low mintage date with only 236 proofs struck (many of which were melted), but all proofs also have a distinctive and quite lovely deep khaki color. This piece not only shows this khaki color but there is also a significant overlay rose patina on the highpoints and in the fields. The surfaces are essentially perfect, the only flaw we can find is a thin shiny streak on the upper obverse between the T and Y of LIBERTY. Population: 21 in 65, 7 finer.
