1911 $2 1/2 PR66 PCGS. CAC. After the Mint reverted to the matte or sandblast finish from the Roman or satin finish used in 1909 and 1910, the 1911-dated dated quarter eagles were produced in a darker matte finish similar to the 1908. This piece displays coarser granules than on the 1908 pieces, with yellowish-green color prevailing and lilac at the top of the reverse. A series of extremely faint, almost imperceptible grease stains runs from the chin to star 3 on the obverse, a trait that would likely go unnoticed without strong magnification. The surfaces are free of mentionable contact. Population: 11 in 66, 15 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N7079)
