1914 $2 1/2 PR67+ NGC. CAC. The 1914 proof Indian quarter eagle is not quite as elusive as its low mintage of 117 pieces would suggest. However, it is harder to locate in high grade than the issues of earlier years. The Mint used a darker, coarser sandblast finish in 1914 that resulted in less reflectivity. The present coin is a spectacular high-end Superb Gem, with razor-sharp definition on all design elements and vivid orange-gold surfaces that show no visible distractions, even on close inspection with a loupe. Overall eye appeal is tremendous. Census: 14 in 67 (1 in 67+), 4 finer (3/15).
