Description

1939 Jefferson Nickel, Lightly Toned PR67
Elusive Reverse of 1940

1939 5C Reverse of 1940, FS-901, PR67 PCGS. CAC. Most proof 1939 Jefferson nickels employ the 1938 reverse hub, which shows ill-defined, wavy steps on Monticello. Considerably fewer 1939 proofs showcase the reverse hub of 1940, with sharp steps on Monticello. A thin veneer of tan-gold patina graces the sharply struck surfaces of this Superb Gem example. CAC endorsement assures high quality for the grade. Population: 68 in 67, 2 finer. CAC: 26 in 67, 2 finer (3/24).
