    Description

    1829 N-6 Large Cent, PR65 Brown
    Experimental Bronzed Finish

1829 1C Large Letters, Bronzed PR65 Brown PCGS. N-6, High R.6 as a Proof. Current census records for proof large cents suggest that slightly more than a dozen 1829 proof large cents exist, all from the N-6 die pair. A flat, matte-like finish characterizes the bronzed proof large cents of 1829. This experimental finish is found on a small number of 1829 N-6 large cents, and on no others of any year, except for a single example of 1834 N-7. The same finish is more commonly seen on 19th century Mint medals. This Gem proof has reddish-mahogany surfaces with splashes of deep steel toning and a few inconsequential dark corrosion spots on each side. The strike is bold with strong star centrils and full hair details on the obverse. The leaf details in the wreath are similarly well detailed. Trivial lint marks remain from the dies when this piece was struck and aid in identification. Our EAC grade PR63. Population: 1 in 65 Brown, 0 finer (7/13).(Registry values: P3) (NGC ID# 267P, PCGS# 1792)

    Weight: 13.48 grams

    Metal: 100% Copper
