Description

1841 N-1 Large Cent, PR64 Brown
Proof-Only Die Pair

1841 1C PR64 Brown PCGS. CAC. N-1, R.5. Perhaps 60 proof 1841 large cents are known in all grades, and they are all examples of the proof-only N-1 die pair. The lowest curl comes to a sharp point just left of the upright of the 4, and that is diagnostic for the variety.
This lovely Choice proof has a sharp strike as expected, with lightly mirrored fields. The obverse is olive-brown with tiny carbon spots below star 6, and outside stars 8 and 10. Dull surface marks are noted below stars 6 and 8. The reverse has similar olive-brown toning, with considerable faded mint red in the protected areas. MRB PR60.(Registry values: P1)
