1857 1C Small Date PR64 Brown PCGS. N-3, Low R.5. A hair-thin die scratch (as made) on the bust truncation resembles an inverted checkmark and is diagnostic for this proof-only Newcomb marriage. A fully struck near-Gem with exquisite preservation. The reverse is mahogany-brown, while the obverse displays powder-blue, orange, and sea-green shades. EAC 60+. Population: 14 in 64 Brown, 12 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P1)
