Description

1906 PR 64 NGC. Only 94 proofs were struck in this year, most of which were either melted, damaged, or placed into circulation, leaving very few available today for collectors. This piece was struck in the no-contrast method of proofing used in the mint just after the turn of the century. The fields are incredibly deep in their mirrored reflectivity and the devices show the pinpoint striking details only seen on proofs. A few wispy hairlines and a thin milky haze account for the grade on this attractive, near-gem proof twenty. Population: 9 in 64, only 1 finer.
