1907 $20 Liberty -- Repaired -- PCGS Genuine. Proof, Unc Details. JD-1, R.5. With a mintage of only 78 pieces, any surviving 1907 Liberty Head double eagle proof is rare. John Dannreuther suggests only 45 to 60 examples of the proof mintage survive in all grades combined. This confirmed proof displays deeply mirrored fields and well-frosted devices for significant contrast. A loupe reveals tooling at Liberty's nose to disguise a lengthy mark in that area, as well as other tiny marks scattered throughout the reflective fields, with accompanying tooling to minimize the marks.
