Description

Rare Proof 1892 Ten Dollar

1892 $10 PR61 PCGS. The Guide Book reports a proof mintage of 72 pieces, but perhaps only half of that number have survived. PCGS has certified 23 pieces in all grades, four in circulated condition, with an unknown number of resubmissions over the past 21 years. This is a flashy example with moderate field hairlines and a hint of striking softness at the centers. Cameo contrast is obvious, but undesignated since the specimen resides in a green label holder. Population: 3 in 61, 10 finer (8/07).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28FX, PCGS# 8832, Greysheet# 9693)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
