Very Scarce 1894 Ten Dollar PR64 Cameo1894 $10 PR64 Cameo NGC. The rarest of the four denominations of proof gold coinage struck in 1894, one of a paltry 43 Eagles produced. Over the ensuing 111 years at least 20 coins have been lost to collectors and others have been cleaned or mishandled in some way.
While gently hairlined in the fields, both sides exhibit a pleasing, natural patina that takes on a desirable orange hue as it approaches the margins. Contrast between the fields and devices is typically well pronounced and there are no outwardly distracting features that impair the significant visual impact of this elusive Ten Dollar gold piece. Population: 3 in 64 Cameo, 4 finer (11/04).
