Description
1896 Ten Dollar, PR62 Cameo
Only 78 Proofs Struck
1896 $10 PR62 Cameo NGC. The proof 1896 Liberty eagle had a
mintage of 78 pieces, of which about half are thought to survive
today in various grades. The combined NGC and PCGS population is
only 44 coins, including possible resubmissions (6/16). This is a
lower-end Cameo example, ideal for the budget-conscious collector.
The strike is full, and the tangerine-gold surfaces display stark
field-motif contrast. Scattered hairlines in the fields limit the
grade but have minimal effect on the eye appeal. Census: 2 in 62
Cameo, 11 finer (6/16).(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28G3, PCGS# 88836, Greysheet# 9706)
Weight: 16.72 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
