    1898 Cameo Proof Liberty Eagle

1898 PR 63 Cameo NGC. Ex: Trompeter. A mere 67 proofs were struck in 1898; however, it seems a large number of those have managed to survive over the years. Breen estimates 35-40 remain with a number of those being lightly circulated or cleaned, Akers between 25-30 pieces with this date being the most commonly seen prior to 1900.
A bright, two-toned cameo appearance is presented over each side with deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices. Scattered hairlines limit the grade, as do a few minor contact marks, the most noticeable one being below the eagle's beak. Still, a prime chance to own a beautiful piece of history.
