Description
1904 Ten Dollar, PR55
Sharp Circulated Proof
1904 $10 PR55 PCGS. JD-1, Low R.5. The proof 1904 Liberty
eagle has a mintage of just 108 pieces, but specimens did not
command a substantial premium above face until decades later.
During hard times, especially the Great Depression, heirs were
tempted to simply spend proof gold coins to make ends meet. As of
(6/20), PCGS has graded 12 lightly circulated examples, between
PR50 and PR58. This butter-gold example is sharply defined and has
moderate obverse rim marks at 6 and 11 o'clock. The reverse is
lightly hairlined but otherwise pleasing.(Registry values: N1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28GB, PCGS# 8844, Greysheet# 9729)
Weight: 16.72 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
