Description

1905 Ten Dollar, PR63 Cameo CAC
Very Rare Proof Issue, JD-1

1905 $10 JD-1, R.5, PR63 Cameo NGC. CAC. With a low mintage of 86 proof coins for the 1905 Liberty Head ten dollar denomination, this is a rare issue that is infrequently available. John Dannreuther estimates the surviving population at 40 to 50 coins, with the majority of the extant specimens being among the non-Cameo category, making this Cameo proof very rare. The strike is full and sharp, with all design elements well defined. Medium yellow-gold with light orange overtones enhances the lovely eye appeal of this coin. Reflective fields contrast boldly with the frosted devices, giving an attractive cameo contrast. Light contact marks are less than usually seen for the grade, with none of them being distracting. Overall, a very nice example of this rare proof issue, with justified CAC approval.
