Description
Affordable Proof 1904 Half Eagle
1904 $5 PR60 ANACS. A sharply struck specimen that has impressively mirrored fields despite the expected wispy hairlines that limit the grade. Breen writes in his Encyclopedia that proofs have a die line from the right foot of the L in LIBERTY and a 'hollow' within the eagle's wing below IN, and this Half Eagle confirms both diagnostics. Only 136 proofs were struck, several of which were subsequently lost or spent.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DA, PCGS# 8499, Greysheet# 9296)
