    Description

    1904 Half Eagle, PR66 Cameo
    Abundant Contrast

1904 $5 PR66 Cameo NGC. Few examples of the 1904 half eagle appear at the Premium Gem proof level and far fewer still in Cameo, as the Mint had two years previously changed its method of proof manufacture to one of little to no contrast. The proof mintage was 136 pieces, but today NGC has seen only eight in PR66 Cameo with six Cameos finer (4/13). The inky-black fields of this Premium Gem produce abundant contrast against well-frosted devices. The eye appeal is ample, and there are no signs of contact on either side of this fully struck proof. A subtle orange-peel effect occurs in the fields.(Registry values: P1)
