Rare Proof 1907 Liberty Five
One of 92 Pieces Struck

1907 $5 Genuine PCGS. Proof. The PCGS number ending in .94 suggests Altered Surfaces as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of an unworn proof specimen that has altered surfaces. The stars have a halo effect, which suggests tampering with the obverse field, perhaps to enhance the cameo contrast. Just 92 proof 1907 Liberty half eagles were coined, and several were spent since such pieces commanded little premium above face value prior to the mid-1930s.(Registry values: P1, N1)
