Description

Choice Proof 1907 Half Eagle
Final Liberty Proof Issue

1907 $5 PR64 PCGS. Only 92 proof Liberty half eagles were struck in 1907, and experts doubt that more than 30-35 examples survive today in all grades. Although some business-strike coins of the Liberty design were struck in 1908, no proofs were produced, making the 1907 the final proof Liberty half eagle.
This delightful Choice example features brightly mirrored fields, with a lemon-yellow tint, that frame the sharply detailed design elements. The Mint's all-brilliant finish, which was first employed on the proof issues of 1902, eliminated the cameo contrast of earlier years. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 11 in 64, 7 finer (5/12).(Registry values: P1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DD, PCGS# 8502, Greysheet# 9305)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
