Exemplary Rainbow Toning
1903 5C JD-1, R.2, PR68? NGC. The Star designation is seldom
bestowed, but it is earned by iridescent bands of lime-green,
butter-gold, and lilac toning that cross the lower right obverse
and upper right reverse. Intricately impressed and free from
imperfections, save for a faint fingerprint fragment on the obverse
near 1 o'clock. NGC Census: 9 in 68 (2 in 68?), 0 finer (12/25).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 103011, Base PCGS# 3901)
