Description

1910 Liberty Nickel, PR68 Deep Cameo
The Only PR68 Deep Cameo Certified in the Series

1910 5C PR68 Deep Cameo PCGS Secure. CAC. The term "perfect for type" can mean different things to different people. If a circulated type set is being assembled, then problem-free type is what is wanted. If it is business strike coins, then the finest business strike is sought. For proof strikes, then it is the highest grade proof available. As a subset of proofs, some collectors pursue Deep Cameo examples. This piece falls under the heading of "perfect for type" among Deep Cameo proofs. The fields show astounding depth of reflectivity. Likewise, the devices are heavily frosted. The combination yields the always-elusive Deep Cameo contrast. Each side presents as brilliant, but closer examination shows there is just the slightest hint of color present. As indicated by the PR68 grade, there are no contact marks on either side. In the entire run of Liberty nickels, from 1883 to 1912, PCGS has only certified 22 pieces PR68. There is only one PCGS PR68 Deep Cameo in the series, and this is it (4/18).(Registry values: P1)
