Description
PCGS 1868 PR 60. While not an especially high grade coin, any proof 1868 quarter eagle is an important offering. Only 25 proofs were struck and of that number perhaps as many as 15-17 pieces are still extant. The fields retain very deep reflectivity while also showing many small contact marks (none of which are individually significant or worthy of mention). There is quite a sharp contrast between the fields and devices on the reverse. Quarterly II in PR 60, $4,000.
